Is Captain James T. Kirk going country?

Actor William Shatner has signed a deal with Heartland Records Nashville. According to a press release, “this new project promises to be one of the most entertaining musical ventures to date for the Emmy Award-winning actor,” Heartland said of the project, which will be released “later this year.”

While country music might be a strange new world for Shatner, he’s no stranger to the recording studio. In addition to his acting gigs, he has recorded a number of albums, including the 1968 spoken-word effort “The Transformed Man.”
