WIN a SuperBowl Experience at Cinema!!!! And find out how to make your Super Bowl a touchdown!!!

So, I don’t think I have to remind anyone of what’s happening this Sunday… yes, I’m talking about the Super Bowl. If you want to talk about where to go, what to chef up and how to make it the best Super Bowl Sunday to date, you’ve come to the right place. Some people like to skip the hosting and head over to a restaurant or bar for the festivities, others like to invite all of their friends, crack open some beers and throw a party. No matter what kind of Super Bowler you are, I have tips that will make your day a touchdown.
For the pub people:
Head to the American
The American on Main St. is hosting a big-old Super Bowl party. For $200, you can purchase a special package which includes a table, six dirty burgers, six plates of fries, a box of crispy chicken skin and 18 cans of lager. They will also be featuring games with trivia and prizes. Yes that’s less than $35 per person for 2 beers and all.that.food.
Cinema Public House on Granville St. will be your go-to spot if you’re a sucker for a high-def experience. The pub will be screening the action in 20 HD screens. Pop by from 11-3 for Happy Hour before the game, and will be selling $5 beers all day. Plus, if you win the grand-prize you’re walking home with a PS4. Check out their Happy Hour menu below.
For the hosts who don’t like cooking:
Sometimes you like to have people over to your place, but the idea of slaving over food for 20 people is daunting. Here are some great local delivery and catering companies that will make your Super Bowl a little bit easier.
White Table Catering
For the fancy Super Bowl – White Table has a number of menu options; plated, buffet, family style and even stations. They’re great for a sit down dinner, but also have delicious snack options. Their hot wings are to-die-for! Check out their Super Bowl menu.

Tip: Try this same sauce on Roasted Cauliflower Bits to give vegetarian lovers the flavour of chicken wings – without the meat!
Pulled Pork Sliders
Beer braised pork with pickled cabbage and carrots with chipotle aioli
Tip: Add a splash of your favourite local beer to your braising skillet and serve with mini shots of beer for a fun addition.
Mini Baked Potato Bites
Mini new potatoes roasted with sea salt and olive oil, cut open and garnished with a dollop of sour cream, cheddar, chives and fresh bacon.
Just like your dad always ordered…only half the calories 😉
“Gridiron” Nachos
Kettle chips topped with pickled jalapenos, pickled red onion, shredded parmesan, cheese curds, garlic, cilantro lime aioli, fresh cilantro to garnish
Tip: Make things easy! Bake and serve in a cast iron skillet. Not only does it make your clean up easy, it gives a homey, rustic feel to your presentation.
Sweet and Salty Popcorn Cups
Tip: add fresh sea salt, caramel, chopped walnuts and melted chocolate to fresh popped popcorn to create an easy dessert guests can take straight to your seats to enjoy during the game.
If you’re envisioning a beer and bbq style Super Bowl then you need to call Smoke and Bones. They’re famous for their pork back ribs but everything on the menu is equally as delicious. Their BBQ baked pit beans are my favourite.
White Linen Vancouver
White Table has my favourite assortment of canapes. They have mini pork belly sliders, tempura prawns, ahi tuna – the whole lot.
For the hosts that are ready to get cookin’:
First and most importantly, you need hot wings! Thankfully our friends at White Table have sent over their top-secret recipe.
Wings and Coating:
2 pounds free range chicken wings (tips removed)
½ cup corn starch
½ tablespoon salt
½ tablespoon paprika
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Hot Sauce:
1½ cups Franks hot sauce
1 tablespoon white vinegar
¼ cup butter
salt and pepper
Roquefort Yoghurt Dip:
1 cup plain yogurt
¼ cup mayonnaise
2 cloves minced garlic
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ cup chopped Roquefort Cheese
salt and pepper
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a bowl mix dry ingredients. Add wings and toss to coat. Spread wings onto a baking sheet lined with non-stick parchment paper. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until crispy, flipping over halfway through. In a bowl heat Franks and vinegar. Turn off heat and whisk in butter slowly. Add to wings and toss to coat. Serve with Roquefort yogurt dip.
