J.K. Rowling has a new story for your reading list
If you’ve watched everything on Netflix already and you’re getting bored of puzzles and board games, how about some new reading?
Author J.K. Rowling released a brand new story online called “The Ickabog” that the kiddies (and the kids-at-heart!) can read for free.
She made the announcement on her Twitter account and explained that this story is not a spin-off of “Harry Potter.” Rowling wrote “The Ickabog” over 10 years ago and says she intended publish it after the last “Harry Potter” book, but decided to put that idea on the back-burner and released two books for adults instead.
She adds, “over the last few weeks I’ve done a bit of rewriting and I’ve decided to publish the Ickabog for free online, so children on lockdown, or even those back at school during these strange, unsettling times, can read it or have it read to them.” Rowling will be posting a few chapters every day from now until July 10.
She also announced a competition for those between the ages of 7 and 12. They can send in their drawings for each chapter and some of the chosen illustrations will be featured in the published book which will be out in November.
You can read more about the process of how the story came to be and get started on reading “The Ickabog” online.
